BLOCK ISLAND FREE LIBRARY Summer WORKSHOPS: Coming Home to You! 

A series of three 90 minute workshops throughout the summer months, all free at the library! Take all or just one—classes will offer techniques that can be used together or independently. All classes will include light asana (or poses), knowledge on a particular theme, and culminate with deep relaxation. Please bring warm clothes and a mat if you have one. Some props will be available.

Class I Friday, June 26th, 8:30-10:00am: Yoga for You!

Everyone is different! While current styles of yoga treat everyone in the class similarly, the more traditional system is designed for self-study (or Svādhyāya), leading to an individualized practice. Join Gwendolyn for this first workshop as we start to learn about our individual bodies and what yoga is best for our needs.

Class II Friday, July 31st, 8:30-10:00am: Yoga as Yoking

The Sanskrit word for yoga means “yoking” or harnessing opposing energies to bring them into balance. In this workshop we will look at some of the opposites (physical and energetic), and learn how yoga can be used as a tool to bring them into balance.

Class III: Friday, August 21st, 8:30-10:00am: Connecting Mind and Body

Back by popular demand, this workshop will focus on the nervous system and its connection to fight or flight. We will learn how to release the psoas the main muscle connected to the system of fight or flight. Please bring socks.Everyone is welcome, and all events are free of charge!
